Uninterrupted broadband of the divine

It's definitely very difficult to repair an old house. If the people living in the old house have got used to that, it's almost impossible. There are lots of apprehensions in everyone's mind. About the inconvenience that will be caused in renovation and what will be their space in the renovated house. Probably people do not become ready to renovate till the present one comes to a standstill and is not at all liveable.

Similarly, there are many systems operating all across the organizations. They have become rotten and difficult to work with. But there is a huge resistance to change. Different interested parties have developed their interest in these imperfections. Some justify their sitting idle and the moment somebody asks them why they are not working, they start blaming the deficiencies in systems. So it's in their interest that the systems are not improved so that they may continue to sit idle. Some use their deficiencies to exploit others to make money or to show their nuisance value and become powerful. Some actually do not have any idea as to how the systems should work and play in the hands of these interested parties.

The worst part of the battle to set up the systems is that we have to fight with our own people. It's not easy to face allegations from your own colleagues in an effort to set up the systems. First of all, one has to be sure of what systems would serve the purpose of the organization. Then one has to face all the resistance from the colleagues. Since one is not working alone in the organization, one has to take everybody along and listen to everybody's remarks and opinions to get the project moved. Often in the process, one sees that the work of a few minutes takes days and the work of a few days takes years. Sometimes in between there are transfers and change of role.

In these situations, it's quite difficult for a system-oriented person to maintain morale. There is a very skeletal support system. There are very few who can understand the mindset and the vision. There are still fewer who are willing to support them. There are still fewer who have the capacity and the position to support. That is the reason why setting up good systems is so difficult for anybody. There is a huge vulnerability of allegations all the time because almost everybody around is looking for an opportunity to make fun of these people.

The question arises, how can one maintain motivation. That's a difficult question. I feel that each one of us acts as per his nature. Some people are Tamasik and they are happy with the status quo. Some are rajasic and they continuously work towards more accumulation of wealth and power of knowledge. Some are sattvic and they work towards harmony and setting up systems. If one tries to work against one's nature, one can never be happy. A sattvic person will not be happy with the status quo or accumulation of wealth, power, or knowledge. So long as we are in this world, we will be guided by one of these forces and the only option left with the sattvik person is to work towards that harmony.

Now, the next question is how to get over the frustration. I feel that the frustration is the result of association with the results. One has to slowly and gradually shift the focus from the outcome to the process. Outcomes are the result of the efforts and the circumstances both. They are not in anybody's hands. The yardstick of satisfaction has to move from outcome to action. It's not easy to keep making efforts and see them going in vain. In one of the books, I read experiments where people were paid X amount of money to make craft work and when the motivated workers finished the work, after paying the money to them the work was destroyed in front of their eyes. Next time they were given double the amount of money to do the same work and still, they felt demotivated.

Everyone wants meaningful work. Meaning is generally linked to the outcome. So it's quite painful to keep working and dissociating from the outcomes. I feel one can be dissociated from the outcomes only when there is bliss inside. One is not seeking anything externally. One is full inside. In that case, one will just act in accordance with one's nature, without associating with the outcomes. This internal satisfaction or bliss is not stable and complete unless that connection with the divine is uninterrupted and strong. It may be sometimes very strong and sometimes very weak like the internet connection. In moments of weakness, frustration will again surface.

The divine broadband is very strong. It is uninterrupted. We have just placed firewalls in our computers which hinder this connection from time to time. We just need to work on those firewalls.
