Adipurusha: a movie without the spirit

Watched the movie Adipurish today. After watching the movie, I was really pained that we have stooped to such a low level of consciousness. Ramayana is a spiritual, philosophical, and psychological story that tells us how to live life each moment. It's not about revenge. It's not about the demonstration of power.

The spirit of Ramayana was lost completely. We can not understand Ram unless we understand the Vairagya of Rama as a child. He wants to leave this world and then Vashistha and Vishvamitra explain to him the nature of reality. He then reconnects to his true nature and lives the rest of his life accordingly. As he reconnects to his true nature, he becomes fearless. Out of this fearlessness and connection with true nature, he is able to take a decision to go to the forest to honor the words of his father. That real connection with his nature connects him with people like Nishad, Ahilya, and Sabari. He connects equally to Sugriva, Hanumana, and Vibhishana.

The most significant parts of the Ramayana are missing in the movie such as Lakshmana-Parshurama Samvada. Parshurama is full of arrogance for his power and Lakshmana out of arrogance for his knowledge. Both are ready to fight a battle. Rama doesn't react to the situation and explains the situation to Parshurama with compassion and love. That's the real quality of Rama.

Ramayana is a story of the bhakti and love of Bharata with Rama. The unconditional love of Nishad for Rama, the selflessness of Hanumana, the faith of Vibhishana, the patience of Sita, the commitment of Sugriva, etc are the pillars of Ramayana.

After killing Vali as well as Ravana, there is a dialogue between them and Rama. There is no hatred there. There is complete love and compassion. Both Vali and Ravana understand where they went wrong and teach the coming generations not to disconnect from our true nature, the Rama.

Ramayana is a story to understand that the moment we disconnect our true nature, represented by Rama, we start being fixated on our body and thoughts, and material possessions. That creates fear as well as arrogance. The only way to overcome these fixations is to reconnect with Rama. Without understanding the spirit of Ramayana, we make movies and convert such a meaningful scripture into no better than just a cartoon.

The worst part of such movies is that kids equate these narrations and presentations with Ramayana. They mistake the glass of water to be the entire ocean. With this, some will understand Ramayana to be that narrow, the whole of their life, and miss the great teachings of such a beautiful scripture.
