Nature of Rahu

One needs to understand the nature of Rahu before trying to understand the impact. Rahu is astronomy is the lunar node. The orbit of the Moon around the Earth and the orbit of the Earth around the sun are not the same. The lunar orbit is tilted by a few degrees. The Rahu node is the place from where the moon starts its upward movement.

This can also be understood in terms of neurology. Generally, the left brain of a person is center of rational analysis and the right brain is the center of insight. Generally, a person who is in a balanced state, while thinking on any issue, intellectually examines the same with the left brain and also gets some insight from the right brain. But, in a state of emotional turbulence, the person starts having a fixed mind and generally gets very few insights.

During the Rahu period, the emotions of a person overcome the intellect and the intellect gets deprived of the connection with the soul. In this period, the chitta of a person is full of emotions. The emotions bring a lot of insecurity and also aggression at the same time.

Having understood the nature of Rahu, we need to understand as to how it manifests in the horoscope. As we have now understood Rahu signifies chitta. Therefore, Rahu’s nature is determined by the nature of the moon, the house where Rahu is placed, and the planets adjoining Rahu. All these will influence the chitta of the person and what emotions are governing the person will be a sum total of all these factors.

Generally, Rahu is friendly to Venus and Saturn since the liquid of these planets allows emotions to have their way. While Rahu, in the house ruled by Mars may provide dangerous energy to mind. Rahu, in Jupiter’s house, will again create emotional obstructions in the house of Jupiter since Jupiter has opposite nature. Rahu in the house ruled by Mercury, the moon, and the Sun will also create issues.
