Global Connectivity

Nature has devised the brain in such a fashion that its local awareness required to perform the local functions does not let it be aware of the wholesome awareness. A person whatever plane he or she is traveling has to be aware of the local consciousness or the local rules. If one is working as a lawyer in the society then he has to keep abreast with the latest developments in the law. He has to be aware of the nature of different judges also. He has to know the nature of the client also. The level of awareness at these fronts may vary from one to another but one cannot function without any local awareness. In the process of enhancing local awareness, at times one becomes so engaged with the process of the enhancement of the local awareness that he loses the link with the universe or nature. An aware person can act at any plane with the local consciousness required and still be aware of the real self or the collective consciousness or the universal truth or whatever name one gives to the awareness. This process is possible but difficult because of the specific design of the brain.

The analogy can be drawn between the computer and the internet system and the humans. The internet can be compared with the global consciousness and the computer can be compared with the local consciousness. Each computer has the local software and the hardware. It has stored some memory locally and it has access to the data stored in the other CPU and the servers. To access the data required the computer logs on to the internet and then the moment it gets the link; it retrieves the data from the other servers. There is no such thing as a single server where all the data is stored. In fact, the data contained in each and every CPU forms part of the collective database. Similarly, the brain has some local database or the local consciousness based on which it performs the day-to-day functions. For the sake of easy and quick retrieval, the local database is linked with the ego circuit. The brain gives this database the name “I”. If the ego is very strong then the one is always preoccupied with the local database and hardly gets the time to log on to the internet. This “I” is linked with certain neurons in the brain. The moment certain new things are discovered by our brain or some new experiences are collected by the senses, the same are linked to the ego circuit or “I”. These also become a part of the local awareness and thus the local awareness or the “I’ keeps on getting stronger each day we live. The stronger the connectivity to the local circuit, the more difficult it is to connect to the global circuit. It becomes very difficult to challenge the local circuit and then to connect to the global circuit. It becomes all the more difficult because the unaware one considers self to be this local circuit. Any disturbance in the local circuit created by global connectivity initially appears to him to challenge his existence.

However, the brain has the connectivity to the other brains also. The scientists working in the fields of quantum physics have established the concept of Field. As per the concept, the microtubules in the brain work as the transmitters and the receivers, and the data is contained in the “Field” around the brain. The field is all-pervasive. The moment the brain gets the right connection, it retrieves the data from the Field. The search engine is available in the Neo Cortex i.e. the frontal brain. Generally, the brain is engaged in the activities carried out in the posterior brain and therefore the links to the internet are not well established. The brain is engaged with the local data. The moment the brain becomes aware of global connectivity, it starts getting the connection to the internet. Bill Jolte Taylor has written in her book namely  “My Stroke of Insight” that the moment certain neurons that create the sense of local awareness were disturbed, she felt as if the whole world was fluid. There was no local awareness or “I”.

Awareness is to come out of the clutches of the obsession with the ego circuit and to maintain fluidity so that traveling into the unknown zones is easier. The stronger the ego circuit the stronger the obsession with local awareness. There have been many Jogi and Sadhus who start the process of enlightenment on the right footing, challenging local awareness and seeking global connections but at some stage when their connectivity increases, they mistake the same for their local awareness and link the same to the ego circuit. After that, they start behaving as if they know these concepts. Thus they again start working at the local level leaving the links to the global connectivity. Thus caution is required in the process that “the local awareness” is not identified with the self so that the local awareness always prospers.
